At this years Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show I had the pleasure of inspecting "Arianna" a full displacement 50m yacht delivered by Delta in 2012. "Arianna" is billed as the most voluminous, full-displacement, composite yacht of her length to date and having toured her expansive 7500 sq. ft. of living space I have no reason to dispute the claim. Arianna Astern "Arianna" benefits from in-house design work at Delta by employing a hull form previously used on other builds including "Happy Days" delivered in 2006. Her owner set out to build a true home at sea and by the time all of the design parameters were achieved she tipped the internal capacity scales at 822 tons. She is powered by twin CAT 3512B diesels which give her a top speed of 16 knots and a cruise of 14.5, and with her very efficient hull design she is transocean capable with an impressive 5,000 nm range. Forward Aerial Delta has long been recognized as one of the world's premier superyacht builders. Their design team and in-house ability to fabricate almost anything, allow for a very intimate collaboration with the yacht owner and the ability to execute the details of their vision. This level of autonomy is what brought "Arianna's" owner to Delta. Dining Determined to create an atmosphere reminiscent of a tropical beach house the owner chose a Polynesian design theme which is carried throughout the yacht. Everywhere you look you find details like woven-leather handrails, natural stonework, bamboo, colorful blown-glass lighting, and rich woods such as Macassar Ebony, Wenge, and Koa. Most unique is the center piece in the main saloon which is a coffee table made from a petrified root. Main Salon "Arianna" can accommodate 12 owners/guests in 6 cabins. The tremendous hull volume allows for very open living spaces and she has a somewhat unique interior layout. The master cabin which is typically on the main deck forward in a yacht of this type is located on the bridge deck displacing the usual sky lounge in favor of a "master suite". The suite uses the entire deck aft of the bridge and consists of a master stateroom, lounge, office and guest cabin. This suite opens aft to a private deck space with lounge seating and dining table. The entire space can be enclosed with curtains which offer privacy as well as weather protection. I love this use of space. It gives the owner a very private apartment if you will, and reserves space on the main deck for other features. In this application the main deck has room for a full gym with sauna and a large office complete with all the state of the art communication equipment and as an added touch, a perfectly restored 17th century German Doettling safe. Master Stateroom The rest of the guest cabins (4) are located on the lower deck. The cabins include a VIP with king sized bed, 2 cabins with queen sized beds and a cabin with twin beds which can be converted to a queen. The Polynesian theme continues throughout the guest cabin's decor. A wonderful blend of exotic tropical hardwoods, brushed metals and woven finishes. Guest Stateroom "Arianna" has a number of exterior deck spaces for lounging and al fresco dining. There is a large seating area on the main deck aft, a private dining area off the owner's suite, and an island bar and a teak dining table on the sun deck which seats 12. Aft Deck Crew flow is made easy with the centrally located galley arrangement and elevator servicing all decks. The galley is equipped with all professional grade appliances and is laid out well for food prep when serving a large party. Alfresco Dining As with all Delta builds the engine room and machinery spaces are immaculate. The extra beam in this design gives you "walk around room" which makes for easy access to all system installations for service work. Everything here was neat as a pin. Even the bilges look factory new. Aft Swim Platform "Arianna" is the most recent build I have seen from Delta and she manages a wonderful combination of sophistication and comfort in her design. From her conception she had to serve two masters. She was to be a home away from home for the owner and his family which demanded a very specific and detailed specification, and at the same time capable of handling the more general requirements of a charter yacht.
