|2007 Explorer Yachts Report|
A lot has happened over the last year.
I have had the pleasure to be involved with signing several exciting new projects, the new DeBasto 120’ aft house design and the New 98’ Overing Raised pilothouse Explorer, delivering the first 111’ (Sudami) in the Yacht Explorer series. Being invited by U.S.AID to speak at the Croatia International Boat Show to a group of shipyard owner’s and boat builders about transferring from military/commercial building to yacht building. This involved speaking to them about developing markets and products, marketing to individuals, changing the internal climate of the yard and developing the work force. I met a number of very good people in Croatia and I am in conversation with several about developing Explorer Yachts and Mega Yacht assist vessels. Drop me a line if you would like to discuss any of the above.
I have attended several different trades shows including a Military show called the “Land War Net” show. Interestingly enough it was not about the latest weapons, it was all about the latest communications technologies and security systems. I went looking to see if there was any interesting equipment or technology that could transfer across to yachting in the security side and found some things and quite a bit more, from military rugged notebooks and desktop systems, high speed sat communications systems with full security built in to all sections of the system and secure communications systems with rugged pocket pc’s that can be installed in tenders and hand held devices that will uplink to sat communications via the vessels systems. Trimble makes two PDAs , one called the “Nomad” and the other “Recon, you can integrate GPS with them and they can be up linked to your sat system.
I have added links to some of the products I found interesting in the Links Section of my site.
I hope to see some of you at the Monaco or Fort Lauderdale Boat Shows.
