Dear All,

There were not a lot of Explorer Yachts at the show this year. There were some good long range yachts and some other interesting vessels. Over all the feel of the show as up beat and a number of offers were made during the show. Weather was spectacular and though the crowds were not heavy, their “quality” was good with a lot of non-U.S. buyers in attendance.

I think if you have opened a yachting magazine in the past month you will have seen an article on the new NISI 78’ that was at the Miami Boat show. The NISI line is built by the same yard that I am using to build the ALL OCEAN YACHTS 90’, 1OO’ and 110’, TRICON MARINE. I took a good number of brokers, surveyors and project managers through the boat and they all were highly impressed with the finish and most of all with the systems. The NISI 78’ was built to R.I.N.A and MCA class and the systems are all big boat systems.

Below is a list of other vessels I inspected and a few comments. Please contact me for additional details and photos.

“La Belle Evette” 84’ 2002 Kuipers recent price drop to $5,490,000

She was the original Beothuk. Interior and exterior out fitting is to a very high standard and in great condition. She is a very good example of this proven Doggersbank design. Captain loves the boat and its sea keeping abilities.
Owner is motivated.

“Go” 128’, 2010 Feadship asking Euro 25,500,000 (approx USD$35,045,000)

An excellent example of Feadship quality done in a modern light interior design, good low window lines and nice use of space

“Lionwind” 155’, 1983 Feadship asking $8,900,000

This very modern exterior design aluminum Feadship has some great features and one owner. Her interior can be updated to match her exterior. She has done a huge number of Trans-Atlantics over the years. This boat can be set up to have some wonderful features. She has excellent tender space and outdoor dinning areas. She will need updates on her engines but her systems are all in very good condition as is the rest of the yacht.
Owner is motivated.

“Sea Owl” 124’, 1999 Delta asking $10,500,000

She is a far coastal cruiser not a Trans-Atlantic vessel. She was originally “Lady Linda” and this is the second owner who did a number of interesting upgrades on her. The boat looks and shows like new. The reason I looked at her and included her is she is of such high quality that it would be worth while considering shipping her to locations and then with her 2000 nm range cruising the Pacific or other areas.

“KingFisher” 142’ 1987 Feadship asking $14,500,000

I inspected this boat just before the Fort Lauderdale boat show and she has just go a bit better since then. I spoke at length with the very knowledgeable engineer, 30 plus years on the water in commercial and yachts and he loves the boat. Asked what need to be done to get her ready to go around the world and he said, “she is ready now”. He has done 3 Trans-Atlantics on her and says she is a great sea boat. She has a great interior layout and can carry large tenders. If you are looking in this size and type of vessel for extended cruising she is a must see.
No need to buy and rebuild just go.

“Chantel Ma Vie" 154’ 1985’ custom asking $4,995,000

This vessel has a interesting history, she as built in a dry dock in Fort Lauderdale by the original owner who never had a chance to cruise her. He built the yard, the dry dock and then the boat, yard, dry dock and boat are all still going strong. She is not what I would call yacht standard but she is a very solid vessel. Captain has been with the boat for 14 years and loves her. She offers lots of space, great range 6000 nm plus and room for lots of toys. A great platform to cruise around the world with no worries about guest and kids using the boat. She has chartered and would do well in the lower end market today.
Owner is moving up and wants to sell.

“Shine” 92’ Aleutian 2008 asking $5,750,000

I viewed her at the Fort Lauderdale show but went back to check on her. She is in good condition and is looking very well kept. She has a good interior for family and informal cruising.

“Exit Strategy” 90’, 1999 Cheoylee aft house design.

Warmest regards,
John DeCaro
