Dear All, I recently inspected the New Trinity "Mi Sueno" at a yacht broker's show. I normally would not recommend a TRINITY as a world cruising vessel. Let me explain why. I think TRINITY builds a very solid vessel and a number of them have done Trans-Atlantics in the past but all the reports I have received have indicated that they have the usual issues regarding semi-displacement vessels. They are difficult in big seas, have a quick motion and in general not a comfortable boat in rough conditions. Mi Sueno- 190' (57.9m) Trinity Mi Sueno is the first in a new series of hull designs. This line is still built in Aluminum and semi-displacement but is soft chime hull (not a round bilge) and as reported by the build Captain, a very fine entry. The main thing that made me change my mind about this boat was a long conversation with the captain. He was involved with the build, has run a number of full displacement steel boats in the past including Feadships and has done a lot of miles. He, well, raved might not be the best word as captains on 190’ (57m) vessels just do not rave, lets just say spoke enthusiastically about the sea keeping qualities of the vessel. They went through some very unpleasant stuff coming from the Gulf of Mexico to Fort Lauderdale including a few hours of plus 50 to 60 knots of wind in squalls, seas were not huge but confused, large and square, a good test over all. Mi Sueno- 190' (57.9m) Trinity The captain reported that the boat ran extremely well through all of it, most of it done at 17 knots, at 14 knots the boat was a joy through it all. She has a 4,000 nm range at 12 knots and Trans-Atlantic at 14 knots. He did all of the commissioning sea trails and again was very pleased. Master Stateroom The boats interior style is very well done with the use of unfinished stone instead of polished (so naturally non-skid) and semi-gloss finishings. It seems to have the storage and good crew areas needed and the bridge is a delight, large, functional and as you would expect well equipped. Skylounge Salon I spent quite a bit of time with the engineers in all the engineering spaces (no surprise there, one of them found me with my legs sticking out of the steering compartment and decided he better show me around). Equipment is accessible, good quality and well backed up. The large tender, a 24' diesel powered in a stern garage made a straight entrance into the engine room impractical, but they very smartly included a large soft patch so servicing big gear in the future will be straight forward. You should be able to use the over head tender cane to assist with moving large items. Layout An interesting feature on the boat is the raised seating zone on the aft deck that creates great views for guest clear of the bulwarks. It was done to accommodate the large tender garage, one of the few times when two functions match perfectly. In conclusion if you want a boat with speed, range and sea keeping this is one of the few I thing meets all of the criteria and as a bonus she is brand new! I look forward to discussing her with you.
