118' Inace Yacht Explorer "Zulu"

Today lets talk a bit about the Inace forward house design Explorer or what we call YACHT Explorers.

Dear All,
We built a series of these designs at Inace starting with an 83' named Fortaleza up to a 132' design.

These designs were built with the same go anywhere thought process as the famous aft house designs we built. They all have an excellent range, Zulu has a 5200 nm at cruising, and many have traveled the world like the aft house designs, 95' Impetus and 98' A.B. Normal. The forward house YACHT Explorers have the same ½ meter (19") frame spacing, heavy framing and plating. The engine rooms are the same, highly efficient, and serviceable design with commercial long-life equipment.

Zulu started life as the 100' "Oggi" built for an English gentleman yachts man who hired outstanding Interior and exterior Michael Kirschstein. Michael did a number design with us at Inace, including the award-winning Impetus, both aft house and Yacht Explorers. Unfortunately health reasons made him change his plans and she was purchase by another English gentleman who modified some of her interior and exterior to meet his needs. He cruised with her extensively in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. She was then purchased and there was an extension done on her to provide a huge aft deck space, extra crew quarters and larger toy storage area. I am told that there was a team of naval architects that worked on the extension and I am fairly sure of this as I receive a number of calls regarding technical information on the vessel.

When the work was finished, she was re-interduce as Zulu. I have had the pleasure of inspecting her several times since the extension was done to make take her to her present 118'. Even more importantly I have spoken to captains and engineers who were working on her and they all praised her handling, seakeeping and general excellence in cruising, carrying on from where she was prior to the extension.

"Zulu" Beach Swim Platform

The extension not only increased the aft deck but also created a lovey beach swim platform allowing excellent access to the water and another area for guests to lounge.

Speaking of lounging, Zulu has several generous areas for guest and owners to relax and enjoy the stunning vistas that Zulu can safely and efficiently carry them to.

"Zulu" Deck with Drapes

The entire deck behind the wheelhouse is dedicated to fun, lounging and eating in interior comfort and open air covered exterior comfort. The exterior lounge can be completely open to enjoy the breezes and vistas or if a bit to breezy can be enclosed without loosing the view, if you want a bit of privacy while stern to in Monaco you can just deploy the drapes as you wish.

The aft deck has a well-arranged lounge and eating area that allows you directly to connect with the water and activities surrounding you.

"Zulu" Flybridge Deck

The last deck which is completely dedicated to the enjoyment of the owner's and guest is the flybridge, again an area that rivals 50m vessels and has a full bar, hot tub with integrated raised lounging beds so you can enjoy your surroundings while being in the sun or shade. This is a wonderful place to sit while entering and leaving the harbor or just at anchor feeling the breeze at sunset.

Note: Awnings, Drapes and Umbrellas for Guest Comfort

If you want to hold a party, for large number of guests, and have the band playing as you enjoy your evening you can rival the 50 m boats with the amount of friends you can entertain.

The major drive for the Yacht design was to provide an on-deck master for the clients. This design does a fantastic job with a large full beam master forward with expansive windows to create a bright living area with all the comforts expected this size vessel. Truly a lovely living space. Some will argue that it is not the most comfortable space of any vessel, that the lower deck in the middle of the vessel is the best, but I have to say that depending how you will use your Explorer, it is a wonderful trade off.

"Zulu" Guest Cabin
Expedition Yacht Zulu Guest Cabin

The lower deck has cabins for 8 guests, and all are comfortable and generous in size, with all the features expected including ensuite heads. There are a variety of cabin layouts available to meet different guest requirements.

The wheelhouse was designed for world cruising and is equipped to meet this criteria. It includes a large comfortable settee. A centerline helm and equipment arranged for ease of use and navigation.

The engine room is exactly what you would expect in a world cruising Explorer Yacht with main engines that are easy to service and maintain. There are overhead lifting points that allow for simple servicing of major equipment in place. It will not disappoint an engineer or captain.

Zulu is an excellent example of a forward house Yacht Explorer. The extension has only increased usability and comfort. She has tremendous volume for a vessel of this length, coming in at 250 gross tons. Her 8' draft provides stability and is still affords the ability to enjoy most cruising areas around the world. Twin Cat engines provide efficient reliable power with low cost of operation.

Zulu is in Rina -MCA LY@ Cayman classification.
