It has now been two weeks since the FORT LAUDERDALE INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW ended and I am finally starting to catch up with everything.
Without question the show was a true “international” event this year, with buyers visiting from every corner of the globe.
This year I had the new INACE YACHTS 95’ EXPLORER “Veronika” at the show on display directly across from our main , Inc. display. If you made it to last years show, in spite of the hurricane, you would have seen that it is very similar to “Impetus” the 95’ that was displayed last year. The major differences between “Veronika” and “Impetus” are that “Veronika” has a Euro style saloon layout and she is “for sale” for USD$4,995,000.
To say that the response was outstanding would be a major under statement. To give an example, the first client of the show was standing at the Inace Yachts Display waiting to board
30 minutes before the show opened and I took aboard the last client of the show 40 minutes after it had officially closed. During the course of the show we had a great number of captains bringing there owner’s aboard, present boat owners, designers bringing clients and brokers from around the world. The combination of all of this interest kept not only myself flat out but the 4 other persons on the display very busy. If you came through the boat you may have been shown through by me, Flavia the head of the yacht division, Sergio the head of the purchasing and warranty division, Darren the ship's captain, Gary an assistant to me or one of the other persons from the yard. It was a true TEAM effort as is the design and construction of these vessels.
There was not only a great deal of interest in “Veronika” but also in the 111’ and 133’ Yacht Explorer line. The first of the 111’ series will be launching in March and we will start construction on the first 133’ in late December. The show also produced a number of submittals of bid packages from 125’ to 220’, some of which are traditional yacht designs, high speed yachts and of course a large number of Explorer yachts.
 
During all the boat show madness we also managed to sign the first in a new series of Explorer yachts designed by Jon Overing for one of my clients. This 96’ raised pilothouse design will be the first in a new series of “Mariner” designs by Jon that will run from 86’ to 120’.

I am also very please to say that IMPETUS the 95’ Explorer that was displayed last year, was nominated by the Super Yachts Society as one of the top 5 boats in her class. All though she was not named the winner at this year’s party, the Inace Yachts team and I were very please to be there and even more determined to reach the “awards' stage” in the near future.
